THIS IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR

A SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR FIRST-TIME MANAGERS

ROSS G. SAUNDERS

You’re being promoted! It’s everything you’ve wanted and you’re finally in management. You’ve proven yourself worthy with your remarkable technical skills and now you will be responsible for a team. The trouble is technical skills are very different from managing people.

This book details Ross’s own practical experiences, successes and learning in moving from being a subject matter expert to managing numerous global teams. In this book, you’ll learn practical methods to assist in Communication and Listening, Time Management, Delegation, Performance Management, and Conflict – the building blocks of effective leadership.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR is a survival guide for the new manager, detailing all the things they didn’t tell you when you were promoted into the role!

When I started my management career, I was told that everyone would be there for me. They were…but not in the way I had hoped. I expected, probably naively, that I would have a lot more handholding than I did. They sure were right – it wasn’t easy – but I got through it and so will you.
